CONNECTIONS THAT THRIVE

Sustainability

Is a way of seeing life from all its unique realms—plants, animals, elements, and humans—that together form diverse ecosystems sustaining all life on Earth. It reminds us that we should seek benefits not just for ourselves, but for the entire ecosystem called Planet Earth.

  • Is about supporting each other to wipe out inequalities no matter where we are.

  • It’s all about protecting the planet's natural diversity and keeping our ecosystems healthy.

  • It’s about balancing our activities with natural resources and using the economy wisely to ensure a good life for everyone.

  • The bigger picture is realizing that our dependence on nature goes far beyond the daily luxuries we pursue

Could you survive with just a laptop in the middle of the desert?

  • H2O - The essential liquid that sustains all Life on Earth. Without water, there would be no trees, no oxygen, no animals or humans, and no fruits would grow.

Can you see now why it's so important to take care of it?

  • Trees - The green giants that produce the oxygen we breathe. Without trees, our air would be less clean, and life as we know it would struggle to survive.

Can you see now why protecting our forests is crucial?

  • Bees - Tiny but powerful pollinators that ensure biodiversity. Without them, many plants and crops would fail, disrupting the entire ecosystem.

Can you see now why protecting animals is vital?

  • Soil

Soil - The foundation of all plant life, providing nutrients and support. Without healthy soil, crops and vegetation would struggle to grow, affecting the entire food chain.

Can you see now why preserving our soil is crucial?

EVOLUTION IS KEY TO OUR EXISTENCE

Since the beginning of humanity, advancements in medical science and public health have improved our longevity. In the 19th century, life expectancy in the UK was 30 to 40 years. By the 20th century, it reached 50 years, and by mid-century, it was 70 years. In 2019, life expectancy was 90 years, almost doubling in 200 years.

Perception of the Planet

Social networks play a crucial role, as they shape each individual's perception of the world. The following charts illustrate what the planet looks like from various perspectives around the globe.

“Many young people think the world is doomed due to climate change. Share of young people, aged 16 to 25 years old, who agreed with the following statements about our future due to climate change.” - Hannah Ritchie (2023)

It Is Time

to stop, look around, and reflect on how our habit-driven lifestyle is harming us physically, mentally, and emotionally, due to the imbalance in our natural world.

it is also time to be empathetic, to stop focusing on our own desires, and to consider our needs as human beings. We must think about the lives yet to come into this world, as our current path will not ensure them a healthy and stable future.

“You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world’s problems at once but don’t ever underestimate the importance you can have, because history has shown us that courage can be contagious, and hope can take on a life of its own.”

— Michelle Obama
